Time Management

The Weight of the Clock

Jake sat at his cluttered kitchen table, papers scattered everywhere. His phone buzzed again with another reminder: "Meeting in 15 minutes!" It felt like the world was closing in. Bills, work deadlines, and family responsibilities all screamed for his attention. He ran his hands through his hair and sighed. Just yesterday, he promised himself he’d be more organized. But here he was, about to miss an important call again, feeling the weight of the clock ticking against him. In that moment, Jake felt torn. He could grab his laptop, jump into the meeting half-prepared, and hope for the best. Or, he could take a step back and spend some time in prayer. His faith whispered softly, nudging him to seek guidance. But the deadline loomed larger. He wanted to show everyone he could handle it all. But deep inside, Jake knew ignoring the spiritual side might only add to the chaos. Would anyone really notice if he didn’t contribute? But what if taking a moment for God might give him clarity? With a deep breath, he set his phone down. It was a small moment β€” but it felt huge. He could feel the anxiety gripping him, but he also felt the pull of peace that had been absent for days. Jake closed his eyes and whispered a quick prayer, asking for wisdom. Should he run to the meeting, or risk being late for the sake of his soul? The answer was still hanging there, just out of reach. A text popped up: "Meeting starting in 5!" He knew he had to choose, but the weight of the decision felt heavy. He was at a crossroads, and both paths were blurry.
